Tottenham beat Coventry City last night, an important win after the defeat in Sunday’s North London Derby, even if didn’t fully convince the fanbase: in the radar of the critics once again were the wingers, and the offensive phase of Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Match Analysis

Another ball possession-based performance for Tottenham, that kept the ball for 70% of the game, but wasn’t able to produce really concrete chances until the final minutes of the game. Coventry City found a deserved lead in minute 63′, thanks to Brandon Thomas-Asante’s goal; the Sky Blues seemed in control of the lead, but Spurs were able to produce a late turn-around with the goals by Djed Spence who replaced Udogie at the start of the second half (a very discussed change by the fanbase: a right-back played on the left without injury reasons) and Brennan Johnson, who in the most difficult period, responded with a late winner. In conclusion Spurs need much much more than yesterday’s performance if they really want to compete for trophies this season.

Kulusevski: the game changer

Minute 74: Timo Werner leaves the field due to an injury and is replaced by Dejan Kulusevski: the Swedish international gifts Spence the assist for the equaliser and is by far the best player on the pitch for the lilywhites. Kulusevski seems to be Tottenham’s key player so far this season: Postecoglou converted him to a central attacking midfielder, and the former Juventus player really benefited from this change of position. Definitely one of the only few positive of Spurs’ start of the season.
