MATCH REVIEW: Ipswich grab point in Brighton

BRIGHTON, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 14: Ipswich Town's Axel Tuanzebe wins a header against Brighton & Hove Albion's Kaoru Mitoma during the Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion FC and Ipswich Town FC at Amex Stadium on September 14, 2024 in Brighton, England. My Personal Thoughts

Ipswich Town fight off constant Brighton pressure to ensure they earn a point in the seaside, overall it was a solid performance from all the lads on the pitch, defensively we were very solid and did not break throughout with minimal errors coming from our back line, Axel Tuanzebe had a fantastic game giving star winger Mitoma nothing to work with and kept him quiet most of the game. Attacking wise we did not cause much pressure in the first half if any, it took Town until the 55th minute to have their first shot on goal with Liam Delap’s solo run ended up agonisingly hitting the post with nobody there to try and follow up.

Jack Clarke caused Brighton problems when he replaced Wes Burns, and showed some great pace and skill throughout his time on the pitch, creating half chances for Town which we were unable to capitalise on.

Brighton continued on the attack for most of the game, Town played a more counter attacking approach to this game and paid off for the most part, a couple of nervy moments towards the end of the game but Town held on and secured a solid point against a quality side.

Player of the match: Arijanet Muric

An unbelievable performance from Arijanet Muric, he was a brick wall throughout the whole game, nothing was possibly getting past him, a miraculous double save in the first half which will no doubt be at least a nomination for save of the month was the pick of the bunch, Muric distribution still needs a bit of work but his shot stopping on Saturday was quite simply unbelievable

Up next: Southampton (a)

A must win game coming up for Town, as Ipswich travel to fellow newly promoted Southampton who are currently without a point in the opening 4 games of the season, so a huge chance to get our first win in the premier league season.

Onwards!
